In this post we’ll look at setting up the DJI Go4 mobile app for the first time. The DJI Go4 app is compatible with the new DJI Mavic Air, DJI Mavic Pro (including Mavic Pro Platinum) and DJI Spark drone. For compatibility specification for each drone please visit the product page and see “Specification” section.
First things first, download the DJI Go4 App on your smart phone 😀
Note: The below screenshots are from an iOS device but should be same for our Android friends.
Launch the Go4 app and grant it permissions to access your Photos and Location. This is used by the drone to store media and track the location.
Next click in the “Create Account” link on the top right corner of the screen to create an account with DJI or use an existing account to sign-in.
Complete the registration by setting up your profile. Next choose a drone from the list of supported drones that you will use to connect.
Tap the “Connect to the Aircraft’s Wi-Fi” option and then follow the on screen instructions to connect your drone.
You will need the drones WiFi password to complete the connection; this can be found in on the side of the drone on a sticker with a QR code in case of a DJI Mavic Air.
Note the password and enter this on the next screen on the Go4 app. Continue to follow the instructions on the next screen and tap complete.
Once the connection is complete lets move on with activating the drone (DJI Mavic Air in this case). Tap the “Activate” button to get started.
Make sure you remove the gimbal cover and unfold the drone and agree with the T&C’s.
Give your drone a friendly name.
Here you can select between the measurement units. We would suggest to enable the “Beginner Mode” if this is the first time flying a drone.
Select the virtual joystick mode and confirm your account.
Select “Continue” from the top right corner if you do not want the DJI Care refresh. We strongly recommend to buy a DJI Care refresh for your drone to safe guard against damage.
Next scan the QR code on the side of your drone to reconnect. The drone will restart a couple of times to finish setting up.
Once the drone is activated make sure that you install the latest firmware for your drone and for the remote controller.
Note: The images in this post illustrates the DJI Go4 app on an iOS device and the DJI Mavic Air but this will be the same for other DJI Drones like the DJI Mavic Pro, DJI Mavic Pro Platinum and DJI Spark drone.
